Rio Olympics 2016: Usain Bolt wins 200m gold, his eighth Olympic gold

Rio Olympics 2016: Usain Bolt wins 200m gold, his eighth Olympic gold Usain Bolt won the men's 200m to claim his second Rio 2016 gold, his eighth at an Olympics, and keep alive his hopes of an unprecedented 'treble treble'. The Jamaican ran 19. 78 seconds to come home ahead of Canada's Andre de Grasse and France's Christophe Lemaitre. Britain's Adam Gemili clocked the same time as Lemaitre, but was denied his first Olympic medal in a photo finish. Bolt, 29, has already won the 100m in Rio and will run in the 4x100m relay final on Friday (02: 35 BST, Saturday). Bolt is aiming to match his achievement of claiming gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012. The Jamaican, who said in February he would retire after the 2017 World Championships, has won all eight Olympic finals in which he has appeared. "The fact I came here and executed what I wanted to is a brilliant feeling, " he told BBC Sport. "...

Michael Phelps Rio2016  Michael Phelps gears up for the honor of carrying the U.S. flag this month as he will compete in his fifth Olympic Games set in Rio de Janeiro. Phelps is the first swimmer to be the flag bearer since Gary Hall in 1976. Phelps says, "I'm honored to be chosen, proud to represent the U.S., and humbled by the significance of carrying the flag and all it stands for." He is the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 medals.  Michael Phelps came away with his 13th individual gold medal last night at the 200-meter individual medley. He became the first swimmer to win gold in the same event at four consecutive Olympics, but that wasn't the only record he broke. According to The New York Times, he also possesses the most individual gold medals EVER breaking a record dating back all the way to 152 B.C.  Download here  What if Michael Phelps was a woman? Australia vs Sri Lanka

Selectors left out all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and included Moises Henriques and Shaun Marsh in their squad named on Sunday for the one-day international series in Sri Lanka. Bowling all-rounder Henriques and batsman Marsh were among two changes from the 16-man squad that toured the West Indies last month.  Marsh, who returns to the squad following the birth of his first child, joins his brother Mitchell in the 15-man national ODI squad. Maxwell, batsman Travis Head and fast bowler Scott Boland, who all toured the West Indies, missed out on selection. “We know Glenn can be a match-winner for Australia but his current form doesn’t warrant selection,” chief selector Rod Marsh said. “He is averaging less than 10 runs in Australia’s last 10 one-day internationals, so the numbers speak for themselves. “We’ve asked Glenn to go away and focus on consistent performances for his state side Victoria and Australia A to earn his way back into the Australian side.” Henriques makes ...
